Echo Database Online Tutorial Click on the ventricles
command to bring up the first of the data entry screens. This contains a number
of drop-down boxes and data entry boxes. If you do not see a drop down list, you
will need to type the numeric value in. The program does not force you to enter
data. Unfilled boxes are simply left blank in the report.
When completing a Post
Procedure study, the button is enabled allowing for automated copying of the
Standard study ventricular measurements to the Post study. (In the Standard
study, this button is disabled).
This section is used to fill
in details for the left and right ventricles. You will also notice that there
are normal ranges in small text to
the left of some fields. The upper and lower number represent the ranges. These
values are also displayed in the report. Of course, they are used as a guide
only.
You will notice that some
screens are greyed out. This pattern extends throughout the database. We have
greyed out fields that are uncommonly used. In this set, ventricular septal
defects and mass choices are greyed out. If you have to use them, click on the
small check box next to the heading and the choices will light up. Values are
also indexed to BSA, and there is a left ventricular Mass calculator.
Some fields have been
disabled from editing so as to prevent accidental additions to the reference
table. For example, the wall motion field is unable to be edited and the Add /
Edit is greyed out.
The data types are either
measurements (numbers) or descriptives. Numbers will appear in summary tables in
the report, whereas the descriptives will be used to construct sentences in the
report. The only place where you can free type is the Summary screen
set.
Ejection fraction estimates
are taken from the fractional area change for 2D measurements, or using Teicholz
formula for M-Mode measurements.
For the left ventricular
wall motion scores, we have adopted the transthoracic orientation, and the 17
segment model as recommended by the AHA/ASE. If all is normal, click on the
normal icon and it will auto fill in all the segments. We have included the category of mild hypokinesis and severe
hypokinesis to bridge the recommendations of the ASE and
SCA.
The
button at the bottom right of the screen is enabled in the Post Procedure screen
only, and allows you to automatically copy the Standard Study data to the post
procedure data table automatically (and then edit it as
required).
