Echo Database Online Tutorial Your default printer will be
selected automatically. If the
report is to be printed to another printer, then you must first select the Print Setup dialog box and choose the
printer you wish the report to be printed on. This can be accessed from the File Menu
or alt + f + r. Alternatively, the
Print Setup button on the main screen can be pressed or activated using alt + r.
The echocardiography report
may then be printed using any of the
following options; click the Print Echo Report from the list on the left side of
the screen, from the File Menu or alt +
f + p or by clicking the Print Report button on the main screen or alt + p.
This will then generate the
echocardiography report to the preview window on the computer. Following your review, you may choose to
print this report by clicking the small printer icon; or if you are unsatisfied
with the report and wished to edit it, you can abort this print by clicking the
small door icon. The report may also be resized on the screen by selecting the
percentage display.
Select
which study to print
If you are in study in the
series, they report for a study will automatically print. Similarly if you are editing a study, a
report for that study at that time will be printed. However, subsequently you may wish to
review the patient and print a specific echocardiography study that was
performed. Here you should select a
particular study from the Toolbar first and then the report relevant to the specific study (standard study or post
study) will be printed automatically upon your selection.
Almost all fields are
displayed in this report. The example here is with virtually every field
completed. However, reports would normally have far fewer fields completed and
not appear as an extensive as this!
The report consists of a top section relating to names,
indications etc. The upper section relates to numeric data including the normal ranges of values. The lower section is a text description of the data entered –
and frequently repeats information listed in the upper section. However, many
users prefer to read sentences. It is very important to understand that the
sentences are constructed from the fields
entered in the database and in order to edit these sentences, you need to go
back to the relevant screen in the database and correct the data entered and
then reprint the report. Please do not add new information in the
comments section intended to correct what appears in this section, which would
result in differences noted in the same report.
When height and weight have
been entered, the calculation of body surface area is possible and therefore the
report will provide additional data indexed to body surface area. In the example above, the indexed value
for LVEDD is listed in brackets where it has the raw value is listed without
brackets. The normal ranges present
throughout most of these numeric fields in small italics immediately after the
values which are listed in bold font.
Finally, the bottom section is the only free text
field which is intended solely for providing clinical interpretation of the data
entered or (rarely) reporting new data that cannot be entered in one of the
fields. It should remain brief and be confined to the take home message of the
study. The technician and the reporting doctor also
listed.
