Associate Professor Alistair Royse MBBS, M.D., FRACS, FCSANZ.

Cardiothoracic surgeon in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Western Hospital .

 

He has cardiothoracic and general surgery fellowships.  He has completed a Doctorate Thesis in arterial coronary artery bypass surgery.  His academic interests lie in arterial and composite arterial coronary grafting, use of intraoperative echocardiography including surface ultrasound, off pump coronary bypass surgery and evaluation of left ventricular systolic and diastolic function using pressure volume loops.  He was appointed Associate Professor, University of Melbourne in 2003. Alistair developed the cardiac surgery total electronic medical record described above.

 

 

Associate Professor Colin Royse MBBS, MD, FANZCA

Consultant Anaesthetist, Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management, the Royal Melbourne Hospital .

 

Colin Royse is a specialist cardiothoracic anaesthetist with an academic interest in echocardiography; pain management in cardiac surgery, and evaluation of left ventricular systolic and diastolic function using pressure volume loops.  He has completed a Doctorate of Medicine thesis in "Applications of Transoesophageal Echocardiography in Cardiac Anaesthesia and Surgery".  His areas of interest in cardiac anaesthesia include echocardiography, the use of epidural analgesia, and anaesthesia for off-pump surgery.  He was appointed Associate Professor, University of Melbourne in 2003, and is Co-Head of the Human Cardiovascular Research Laboratory within the Department of Pharmacology, focusing on the evaluation of pharmacological agents using pressure volume loops and echocardiography.

 

Karen Groves B.Bus., is a senior research assistant in the Cardiovascular Therapeutics Unit, Department of Pharmacology, University of Melbourne .  She has extensive experience with database and mainframe programming.  This report is a development of an earlier electronic echocardiography reporting form, which is a component of a cardiac surgery total electronic medical record.
