Colin Royse is a specialist
cardiothoracic anaesthetist with an academic interest in echocardiography; pain
management in cardiac surgery, and evaluation of left ventricular systolic and
diastolic function using pressure volume loops. He has completed a Doctorate of Medicine
thesis in "Applications of Transoesophageal Echocardiography in Cardiac
Anaesthesia and Surgery". His areas
of interest in cardiac anaesthesia include echocardiography, the use of epidural
analgesia, and anaesthesia for off-pump surgery. He was appointed Associate Professor,
Karen Groves B.Bus., is a senior research
assistant in the Cardiovascular Therapeutics Unit, Department of Pharmacology,
