Letter to the Editor
Download General Instructions in PDF format
Purpose
This newsletter is intended to provide a forum for considering controversial subjects. In particular, it seeks to provide a forum for challenging the status quo of medical treatment. Therefore, the content reflects current medical experience and research for wider consideration and debate and should not be seen as official guidelines or protocols for medical management.
Letter scope
Please ensure that the letter is directed to one or at most two areas of controversy in a newsletter. Provide references, reasoning or logic to explain the points being made (not simply to provide a statement of personal opinion).
Style of writing
The author should seek to construct their manuscript with their own specialty in mind as a primary target audience. The manuscript should not be written to appeal to a broad target audience or an audience that may be partially or completely unfamiliar with their area or specialty. As far as possible, the manuscript should be constructed with the same rigor and references as a scientific journal in the relevant specialty.
Length of manuscript
A letter to the editor should be no longer than 500 words.
Submission
All manuscript should be submitted as Microsoft Word documents with Arial font, 10 point in size, single spacing. These documents should be e-mailed and any images or supplementary files included as an attachment in addition to the embedded images within the Word document. Please do not fax or post manuscripts as only electronic manuscripts will be considered. Additional or supplementary files, images or programs may be submitted for the purposes of allowing readers to download from a website which would not be available in a printed or electronic newsletter. Links to website addresses for supplementary material submitted would be determined by the editor.
Address for submission
echo-info@unimelb.edu.au and place in the Subject Line: DMD Letter
